Virtual Hawai'i County Committee (HCC) Meeting

Special guest will be Michael Golojuch, Jr., Co-Chair of the Hawai’i State Democratic Party 2022 State Convention, to discuss program plan, which will be hybrid w/ some in-person events on Oahu.  Will review delegate selection process, timetable for preparation meetings/events leading into a mostly online convention.

The 2022 State Convention 2022 will be Friday, May 20 - Sunday, May 22 in Honolulu - mostly virtual. This is a week earlier than the traditional Memorial Weekend schedule.

Michael’s presentation will be first on the HCC’s 9/19 agenda and will last about an hour.

Also to be discussed will be how the change in State plans will impact County events. Our 2022 Precinct Meetings will take place on Wed., Feb. 2, 2022 (2-2-22!) instead of early March and will be entirely virtual on Zoom.  For the State Convention, the State Party is contracting w/ Merriman River Group to again manage online voting.  No floor amendments to rules or resolutions so anything the County wants to submit must be finalized by April 15.

Both the chancing timeline and virtual processes will put a lot of responsibility on District Councils and Precinct Officers to update their membership rosters and communicate with members.

Reminder: All HCC meetings are open to all County party members but only HCC members vote, so if you are or know of county party members who want to know more about the 2022 convention process - which will include updating the party Platform and ByLaws and developing Resolutions, please let them know about this meeting and let Barbara Dalton or Gretchen Klungness know if they would like to attend by Zoom.
