MAHALO!
What is the Hawai`i County Committee, who are we, and what is the purpose?
The Hawaiʻi County Committee (HCC) is made up of people just like you: neighbors, workers, families, and community leaders from across Hawaiʻi Island. Our members are elected (by you!) through County or State Conventions.
Together, we are passionate advocates who work to advance Democratic values at the local level. Our mission is to elect Democrats up and down the ballot across the Big Island, and our purpose is to organize and strengthen the party by supporting candidates, engaging voters, coordinating events, and building a more connected and equitable community for everyone who calls Hawaiʻi Island home.
Governing Body of the Hawai`i County Committee (HCC)

Core Officers are elected at the County Convention every two years, following a presidential election.
Any registered Democrat living in Hawaiʻi County is eligible to run for a Core Officer position, including County Chair, with a few important requirements:
For County Chair specifically:
You must have been a registered Democrat for at least one year before the election
Current elected officials, anyone appointed to fill an elected office, and active candidates for elected office are not eligible for this role
How to Get on the Ballot: To run for any Core Officer position, you must:
File nomination papers at least 14 days before the County Convention
Collect signatures from at least 10 registered Democrats living in the county region you wish to represent. They must also be registered with the State Party, not just registered as a democrat to vote.
