Hawaii Democrats

It all started when…

The Democratic Party of Hawai‘i was formed on April 30th, 1900 by supporters of the Queen. The meeting brought together  five men: John H. Wilson,  John S. McGrew, Charles J. McCarthy, David Kawānanakoa, and Delbert Evener Metzger. The group believed that it was necessary for a party in Hawai‘i, now a region of the US, to have a national counterpart to survive and established the Democratic Party of Hawai‘i. The intention of the party was to promote Jeffersonian philosophy and home rule.

National Democrats

IMPACT AT A NATIONAL SCALE…

Help Democrats win seats across the country this year. Every four years, the Democratic Party puts together our party platform, the ideas and beliefs that govern our party as a whole. What follows is our 2016 platform — our most progressive platform in our party’s history and a declaration of how we plan to move America forward. Democrats believe that cooperation is better than conflict, unity is better than division, empowerment is better than resentment, and bridges are better than walls.
