Hawai'i Primary Election Day

Beginning in 2020, voting in Hawai’i will be PRIMARILY by mail - a move to increase voter participation by reducing barriers. Ballots will be mailed to ALL registered voters. 

HAWAI’I PRIMARY ELECTION DAY:  SAT., AUGUST 8, 2020 - 7 A.M. - 7 P.M.

Registered voters should receive their ballot in the mail approx 18 days before Primary Election Day - about July 21, 2020. If you do not receive a ballot in the mail, call: 808-453-VOTE or email: elections@hawaii.gov.

TO REGISTER TO VOTE OR UPDATE YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION:  OLVR.HAWAII.GOV

You will need a Hawai’i Driver’s License or State ID and social security number.  Do not leave this to the last minute!  County will confirm voter registration.

Hawai’i Island Will Have 2 Voter Service Centers:

Services provided at the Voter Service Centers include accessible in-person voting, same-day voter registration, and collection of voted ballots. All Voter Service Centers in the State of Hawai’i are physically accessible or accessible through special administrative voting procedures to all eligible voters with disabilities and elderly voters.

Hours of Operation:

July 27, 2020 through August 7, 2020
Monday through Saturday, excluding Sundays
8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

August 8, 2020
7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Deadline to deposit ballots on election days:  Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on election day – NOT postmarked on election day!  If you do not get your ballot mailed by about Aug. 3-4, you must either take it to one of the six drop boxes or one of the two Voter Service Centers before 7 p.m. election day.  No exceptions.
